Equestria 100 Bit Coin Design by SouthParkTaoist Equestria 100 Bit Coin Design by SouthParkTaoist
I am a numismatist and have been designing coins for a while now for my Military Academy as well as commemorative and military challenge coins. Since joining this fandom back in 2011 I have been wanting to see some MLP themed coins made. The reverse of this coin was first made back in November 2011 as part of a Brony Commemorative Coin set. The first one was suppose to be minted by a Northeastern mint, I had connections to from my Military Academy, but that mint went out of business. Last year, another brony approached me but halfway through dropped all contact. The most recent people I was working with were being difficult. So after two years of dealing with this project and seeing other brony coins made I decided to finally post my designs here to see if anyone would like to help and get these minted.

The 100 BIT was envisioned to be an annual commemorative coin, like the US Mint's Commemorative Silver Dollar coins or the Maui Trade Dollars. Each year would have a new design. 2011 was meant to honor the One Year Anniversary of Friendship is Magic, 2012 was meant to honor Lauren Faust, and 2013 was meant to honor the 30th Anniversary of the My Little Pony franchise.

So right now not really sure where to take this project. If anyone is interested and would like to help out, message me, that would be appreciated.

Now, imagine if Equestria is a continent in the human world, how would bits convert to our currency?

I had wondered what happened to this coin design of yours that I saw a while back, since you had mentioned that it was for a "project," but then nothing came of it. It actually seemed like concept art for a real coin, as opposed to other fanon designs for bit coins that have been proposed or even produced. If I was not already in the process of minting my own coins, I'd have probably been all over this. The appeal of this design is undeniable, though I ended up taking my own project's style in a bit of a different direction.

I just now realized something about the reverse design of this coin, which is that the Celestia/Luna flags are arranged such that Luna's is on the dexter side and Celestia's is on the sinister side. Is there any particular reason for that? I ended up forgoing cutie marks on my own coins' obverse solely for the sake of avoiding that decision, and just thought, "Well, not being able to tell which one is in the side of relative honor symbolizes their status as equals, or something."

Oh wow, I just saw your coin, very nice. The proof and frosted image is just what I imagined for mine. Actually I have been interested in coins and coat of arms for most of my lift. The coat of arms here where based on the British heraldic designs. Originally I had Celestia on the dexter side and Luna on the sinister side, I guess I changed it without thinking. I guess it's more that the sun rises in the East idea.

I am only commenting on this one, but all of your designs are sensational. They combine tradition, symbolism, simple elegance and genuine beauty. Well done!

The bottom left (2D Reverse) picture says "Fideliter / Feliciter / Fideliter" by the way, so it says "fideliter" twice, and is different from the 3D reverse. If there is a reason for this, I apologize for pointing it out, but just in case you didn't notice...
Very impressive designs on all the coins, I like them all.
